The local musicians earned a 15th place finish!

That's an excellent place to finish, considering the division in which they competed, Independent A division, included many competing bands with college-aged drummers.

The Lourdes drumline consists of 23 students from 7th through 12th grade, and according to Laura Smith, Communications and Marketing Specialist with Rochester Catholic Schools, the kids performed right alongside these older and more experienced drumlines.

There were 232 other drum lines competing, 30 in their division.

The WGI website's information on the "Sport of the Arts" says it's the 39th year of competition and is called the Sport of the Arts because it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format.
