The Rochester Park Board is being asked to consider acquiring a large piece of property from IBM.

Park Department staff members have been in talks with IBM over the possible purchase of some undeveloped property the company owns on the south side of its campus for $5 million. Staff is also negotiating with IBM to donate its current park that includes an 18 hole disc golf course, two ball fields, tennis courts, a shelter, play equipment, and trails.

Staff says funding for the purchase of the undeveloped property could occur over 5-10 years, depending on talks with IBM. At this point, the city has no designated money to make the purchase.

Staff says the city has been provided a short window to make a decision.

The Park Board will discuss the proposal at its Tuesday meeting.
