Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - One of the applicants for Rochester police chief has been removed from the list of finalists for failing to disclose a disciplinary issue on his application.

The Rochester Police Civil Service Commission took the action Wednesday after another background check led to the discovery of the omission.

The finalist was only identified as candidate “B” at the meeting.

Commission chair Jodi Grimm said the new report also led to the discovery of other information that had not been provided. Before the vote was taken, she noted “truthfulness is crucial for this job.”

After the meeting, Mayor Ardell Brede said he was disappointed with the credibility issue. But he also said he feels good about the remaining two candidates and expects to make an offer to one of them soon.
