Marcus Sherels won't be the only Rochester native with the Minnesota Vikings this season, as four Rochester women recently made the cut to join the 2016 Vikings cheerleading squad.

According to pictures published on the Minnesota Vikings website Wednesday, Emma, Brooklyn, Kayla C, and Danielle -- who all are from Rochester -- were listed as being four of the 42 different candidates who made the cut to join this year's squad. An online voting contest ended Tuesday, which had let Vikings fans vote for their favorite cheerleading candidates.

So, a hearty congratulations to our fellow Rochesterites, who'll be patrolling the sidelines this fall during the inaugural season at the Vikings new US Bank Stadium! The Vikings, by the way, play their first pre-season game in the new stadium on August 28th against San Diego, with their first regular season game taking place on September 18th, in prime time on Sunday Night Football as they take on the Packers.

Of course, football won't be the only thing to take place in the new stadium this year-- Luke Bryan will take his 'Kill The Lights' tour to US Bank Stadium (along with Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch) on Friday, August 19th-- the first concert ever at the new venue.
