Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  New construction activity in Rochester so far this year has gone over $300,000,000.

That milestone was achieved during August, helped in part by another busy month for local homebuilders.

They took out 47 permits for new single family homes during August, raising the total for the first eight months of the year to 292. Nearly 200 of those permits were issued during the May-August period.

Another permit for a large multi-family project was approved during August.  The developer of the Commons on Mayowood Apartments project took out a permit valued at $20.3-million.

A permit valued at nearly $400,000 was taken out for a new downtown pizza business. Known as Pasquale’s Pizza, it will be located in the 501 On First housing project that is nearing the end of construction.
