Well, wouldn't you know it? Just a few days after posting about a median with really long grass and weeds on a well-traveled street, things have settled down. Well, chopped down is more like it.

Yes, last week, after having noticed that it hadn't been mowed in awhile, I posted about how long the grass and weeds were getting in the median along West Circle Drive (also known as County Road 22) between 3rd Street and Country Club Drive in northwest Rochester.

I drive that stretch of road each day as I make my way to and from the state-of-the-art Quick Country studios in downtown Rochester. And, before Wednesday (at least I think it was Wednesday), the weeds and grass in the median were getting pretty long. So long, sometimes on-coming cars seemed to get lost, literally, in the weeds.

A Quick Country 96.5 listener suggested that maybe the county was allowing that stretch to get long to help foster the bee population, which has taken a hit recently. That sounded reasonable to me-- and if that was the reason, then I said I'd stop complaining, seeing as I'm on the bee's side.

I guess that's not it, though, because the median has been mowed! Yes, sometime last week (before all that rain Thursday and Friday), the median and its grass and weeds were chopped down! Your tax dollars at work, Rochester!
