Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  – Water service rates for customers of Rochester Public Utilities may be going up next year.

The RPU Board Tuesday accepted a rate study that recommends a maximum increase of 6 percent in each of the next three years. RPU spokesman Tony Benson says this would raise the average residential bill by 61 cents per month next year.

The board will take public comments on the study at its October 27th meeting. If approved by the board, it will be sent to the  City Council for its consideration on November 2nd.

RPU raised water service rates by 3 ½ percent at the beginning of this year.
