Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Public Utilities Service Center was evacuated Tuesday afternoon.

RPU spokesman Tony Benson says employees and customers were ordered out of the building in northeast Rochester near Foster Arend Park about 3:30 p.m. after employees began complaining about respiratory irritation and a burning sensation in their eyes in an area near the middle of the service center. The Rochester Fire Department was called to the scene to ventilate the building and try to identify the source of the problem.

Benson says no one required medical treatment.

The problem forced the relocation of the regular monthly meeting of the Rochester Public Utilities Board to a meeting room at the Silver Lake Power Plant.
