St Louis Park, MN (KROC AM News) - The former longtime tennis coach at Rochester Lourdes High School was fired Wednesday by Benilde-St. Margaret’s in St Louis Park where he had been coaching since 2015.

The firing was announced in an email sent to parents that said leaders of the Catholic school were “shocked and saddened by this news.”

The news was the criminal case filed in Wisconsin against 59-year-old Kevin Rust, who now lives in Minnetonka. The case was filed in July but not picked up by Minnesota media outlets until this week.

Rust was charged with three felony-level child sex crimes after he allegedly responded to an online ad posted by a police officer posing as a 15-year-old girl as part of an undercover operation.

Rust coached girls and boys tennis at Lourdes High School from 1982-2009 and his teams and players won numerous state championships.
