Sad Update To a Classic Minnesota Animal Story

Seeing as yesterday was National Pet Day, here's another Minnesota animal story. And even though it has a sad update, I'm guessing it'll still make you smile.

I've mentioned before that I'm a big animal fan. (Which explains why I enjoyed yesterday's story about the guys who rescued a moose that had broken through the ice on a northern Minnesota lake.)

I'm also a big fan of KARE-11 journalist, Boyd Huppert and his 'Land of 10,000 Stories' series. He's one of the best in the business, and he works right here in Minnesota. Heck, I even remember him from his days years ago when he worked for a TV station back in my hometown of Wausau, WI.

Check out this story from 2008, about a guy who drives a truck, and his pet... duck. It's a very sweet story about an unlikely duo, all told as only Boyd can do. (It reminded me of the time a few years ago when a similar duck had built her nest outside the Quick Country 96.5 Worldwide Headquarters in downtown Rochester.)

The sad update, though, was noted by Boyd, on his Facebook page earlier this week...
