SCAM ALERT:… That “Secret Sister” Gift Exchange On Facebook

Here's another scam to watch out for: The “Secret Sister” gift exchange on Facebook is a scam, and is also illegal.

The online gift exchange promises that if you buy one gift for a stranger you in turn will receive as many as 36 gifts back.

But authorities say the big payday promised is mathematically impossible, and many people participate but do not send money to the person at the top of the list.

They also say it’s illegal because it’s against the law to request money or other items of value and promise a substantial return to the participants.
