School Takes Away Bible From 2nd Grader During Reading Time

The family of a 2nd grade student in Texas are upset after a teacher took the Bible away from their child during a “reading to myself” session.
The parents want to know why the Bible was taken from their daughter, since the school library has several copies of its own.
During the reading time, students are required to read a book they can understand and appropriate for the genre that is being taught. What are your thoughts?  Do you think the school should have done that?  Would they have done the same to someone reading the Quran? -Alan
