I was taking my dog, Chance, to his weekly obedience class Monday when I noticed a crew out demolishing the former Cuisine of India restaurant at the corner of Highway-14 and South Broadway in southeast Rochester.  It kind of took me by surprise, because when we arrived for the class, everything was normal. But when we left, the restaurant was reduced to a pile of rubble.

Progress, of course, takes many forms, and I'm guessing the real estate on that busy corner is probably worth a good chunk of change-- and is probably easier to sell without what looks like might have orignially been a Hardee's restaurant sitting on it.

It's always seemed ironic to me, though, that when crews demolish a building, the sign is the last thing they take down.  Like in this case, the "Cuisine of India" sign is still proudly standing, urging you to come on in for some curry chicken. While we all know that's not possible-- it appears the actual business closed some time ago-- it still seems kind of sad.  And, I guess this means the "lunch buffet everyday" (as the second smaller sign proclaims) probably isn't on today, either.
