It looks like most of southeast Minnesota will get some 'shovelable' snow this weekend, which could make some tough travel conditions across our area. Kind of like what happened three years ago this week.

Living here in Minnesota, we all know that it doesn't take a lot of snow to snarl traffic and make traveling tough along our rural roads and highways. Good 'ol Highway-52 always seems to turn into a skating rink despite the best efforts of the dedicated team of MnDOT snow plow operators.

But check out this video from December 8th, 2013, over in my home state of Wisconsin. It's from a Department of Transportation traffic camera in Germantown, just outside of Milwaukee.

Luckily, nobody was seriously injured in the crash, which quickly unfolded along a stretch of Highway 45/41 in Wisconsin-- a divided highway that looks eerily similar to our own Highway-52 between Rochester and the Twin Cities.

It just goes to show how quickly things can turn really serious on the highways when it's snowing. If you're heading up to the Cities (as we are this weekend), safe travels!
