And, it's here in our backyard too. Can you guess which one it is? That's right, it's the Zumbrota Covered Bridge, and it just made the list of the Most Beautiful Covered Bridges in America, according to Travel + Leisure.

While those more famous covered bridges in Madison County, Iowa tend to get way more publicity, Zumbrota's Covered Bridge is cool for several reasons-- one, of course, being that's it's just a hop, skip and a jump north of Rochester. (Head north on Highway-52 and take the Highway-58 exit. It's right there in Covered Bridge Park, on West Avenue in Zumbrota. I pass it all the time on my way to Red Wing.)

Travel+Leisure noted that the Zumbrota Covered Bridge was built back in 1869, and sits about 100 yards from its original location. Meanwhile, Explore Minnesota has more about this cool structure-- which the only remaining covered bridge in Minnesota:

The Zumbrota Covered Bridge is listed on the National Historic Register, and has been restored to its authentic state, reflecting the heritage of early pioneer settlers. The bridge spans the Zumbro River in the 85-acre Covered Bridge Park. The park is also the trailhead for the Goodhue Pioneer Regional Trail, a multi-modal trail which connects with the cities of Goodhue and Red Wing.
