A week or so ago, when I was heading home from the station, I enjoyed seeing for the first time this season, all the Christmas lights festively decorating downtown Rochester, including the Christmas tree in the windows of the Plummer Building. But there's another fixture of the Med City skyline that's also decked out for the holidays.

Yes, as you might have noticed, one of the two cranes that have called the St. Marys campus in southwest Rochester home for the past few years is now festively decorated with holiday lights and a Christmas tree, as well.

I first noticed the lights on the crane a few weeks ago, but it never in a decent position for me to take a picture as I made my way home each night. Last night, though, I thought I could snap a decent picture. My apologies to the folks who live along 10th Av SW last night, as maneuvered my SUV along the street, trying to get a decent vantage point of the crane.

As you can see, this isn't the best shot (thanks to last night's rain), but it's enough that you can see how festively the crane is decorated. As it turns out, one of the crane operators, Dewey Larson, was featured on KTTC's NewsCenter a few weeks ago, after he posted a cool video of what things look like up in the crane.  I happened to repost his original video here on quickcountry.com, if you haven't seen it.

Either way, impressive job on the crane decorating! I'm sure stringing lights along a crane some 26 stories above the ground is a wee bit more difficult that just stringing them up along the edge of your house and shrubs, like I did. (In fact, a video showing just how they decorated the crane for the holidays would be cool to see, too!)
