Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Stewartville man is expected to be prosecuted for punching an Olmsted County detention deputy.

The Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened Feb. 26th in a dayroom at the jail after 24-year-old Majed Ijong had asked for a blanket. As the deputy was giving the blanket to Ijong, he punched the officer in the mouth. The 56-year-old deputy had to receive 6 stitches.

Ijong has since been transferred to Anoka County.

He is facing sex abuse charges in Olmsted County involving the young daughter of his girlfriend. Ijong fled about the same time the case was filed but was later caught in California. That case was put on hold after he was recently ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial. He was expected to receive treatment.
