Remember the Tootsie Roll commercial when you were a kid? You don't? Oh, I forgot, I'm old.
Well, there was this wise old owl that got asked, "Wise old owl, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?" Then the owl took the Tootsie Pop and started eating it. "One....two...(crunch)..three!". Said the owl. The kid got ripped off.

According to a study… it takes 2,500 licks to reach the center of the average lollipop.

Researchers placed lollipops of different sizes and shapes into slow moving water and took time lapse photographs of the lollipops to see how they got smaller.

They calculated that it would take around 1,000 licks to dissolve 0.4 inches of the candy-- which comes out to 2,500 licks for the average lollipop. -Alan
