Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man has been accused of stealing dozens of items over a period of 2 months and pawning the goods. And based on the criminal complaint, he was done in by some pretty good police work.

The case against 28-year-old John Plute began last year when a police investigator checked a shoplifting report at a retail store.

The investigator began checking local pawn records and discovered Plute had sold more than 60 items between May 11th and July 2nd. Most of the items were power tools that were taken from numerous local retailers. The value of the items was put at around $2600.

Plute has been ordered to make his first court appearance March 7th.
