Seeing as today is Thursday, and seeing as the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will be back in Rochester next Friday, here's a Throwback Thursday picture of the time a few years ago when I actually suited up and tried to play a little basketball against them.

Of course, I possess virtually no basketball skills at all, so as you might guess, my appearance on the court didn't go well. This all took place about 4 years ago at the North High School field house in Eau Claire.  I was working at a station there, and we were promoting the Globetrotter's appearance. As the picture shows, I got to suit up for the Washington Generals-- the team that's the perennial opponent of the Globetrotters, yet is never able to win a game.

I certainly didn't help them in their cause to beat the Globetrotters that night. Did I make their patented 4-point shot? Uh, that'd be a no. Come to think of it, did I make any shot? That'd be another no. Was I asked to suit up for next Friday's game here in Rochester? I think we all know the answer to that one.

But YOUR child could win the chanced to be ‘Junior Globetrotter’ at the game! Two lucky kids (ages 6-12) will get to join the team on the bench for next Friday's game. Along with sitting on the bench, winners will also get a family four-pack of tickets to the game,  a meet-and-greet with the team, a Trotter t-shirt, and an autographed basketball.
