Thank You Veterans

As we get ready for the Memorial Holiday weekend, please take a minute to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country and our freedom. I will never take my freedom for granted.

There are a few brave men who have given their lives in the past few years. Travis Bruce was a graduate of Mayo High School, who was killed at just 22 years old. Anthony Hiebert of Lake City was just 19 when he was killed in action. And Lake City Police officer Shawn Schneider was killed in the line of duty a couple of years ago. As we enjoy our freedom this weekend, please think of them and their families and thank them for their sacrifices.

As you go to any of the Memorial services or parades this weekend, I want you to take a good look at the men and women who carry our American flag, the state flag, the Legion flag, POW/MIA flags and more. Chances are they've all seen battle in one of the many wars and have sweated it out in boot camp. You'll see pride in our flag and pride in our country as they walk with their heads held high...A proud veteran.
