It may have been a bit chilly but that didn't stop the Quick Country 96-5 crew from doing a little cleaning up Wednesday.

Rochester's 'A Litter Bit Better' campaign has been going strong for over 10 years now, and we were happy to help out and do our part. We headed out Wednesday afternoon to clean up the Zumbro River South trail (near Hy-Vee Crossroads).

And, I've gotta say, there actually wasn't that much to clean up.  Well done, Rochester! We're apparently pretty good at not just tossing our trash on the trail, but instead putting it where it belongs. That being said, we did manage to find a few things to pick up.

Here are the 5 Weird Things I Found While Making Rochester A Litter Bit Better:

+ A 16-once Coors Light tall boy can. (James Rabe offered me a whole dollar if I'd take a sip of what was left in the can, and it may have been the only time in recorded history I turned down money to drink a beer...)

+ An old lighter. (If you're my age, you can remember EVERYBODY having a lighter-- mainly so you could light them up during a slow song during a concert)

+ An old Cheetos wrapper. (Chester the Cheetah was still recognizable, though...)

+ A rusted tin can. (When's the last time they even MADE cans out of tin?!?)

+ A couple of old, soggy Minnesota Lottery tickets. (Now that I think of it, I should have double checked to make sure they weren't winners...)

While it was cold, we still had a good time-- and got that warm feeling you get when you know you're doing something positive for the community.
