The Highest of Highs and the Lowest of Lows… In Seconds
It only took a few seconds elapsed time, but my emotions went from extreme excitement to extreme disappointment yesterday.
My extreme excitement was created by that magical box in the first picture. That's right, a box full of delicious Dunkin Donuts, placed right outside the Quick Country 96.5 studios-- a thank you gesture by our boss, Caren. (Which was much appreciated, by the way. She's good like that!)
Is there anything better than free food at work? And, free food in the form of a brand new box of donuts?!?!? You can imagine my glee!
However, my giddiness was short-lived, though. Much like the line in that old Mother
Hubbard nursery rhyme detailing the time when Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard to give her poor dog a bone but "when she got there, the cupboard was bare," check out what was actually IN that lovely donut box.
That's right-- nothing. It was empty; all the donuts were long gone. Why, there wasn't even that one piece that's usually laying around, that leftover from somebody who only wanted half a donut. That box was cleaned out.
So, in a mere matter of seconds, my extreme glee turned to extreme disappointment, just like that. Oh well. I didn't really need that donut anyway...
