The Minnesota State Fair Introduces 28 New Foods
Just in case the food vendors at Thursdays On First & 3rd along with the food court at Rochesterfest didn’t satisfy your culinary cravings, the Minnesota State Fair announced they’re adding 28 new foods to this year’s Great Minnesota Get-Together!
The Fair made the announcement on its website yesterday. My personal favorite has to be the bacon-wrapped turkey leg. The smoked turkey leg is one of those foods I always have to get at the fair. Of course, I’ve also downed them at Summerfest in Milwaukee and various other places that sell them, too. I didn’t think it was possible to make it better, but wrapping it in bacon pretty much seals the deal!
The Breakfast Juicy Lulu also captured my attention. It’s appears to be a close cousin of the Minnesota classic, the Juicy Lucy, which has been made famous be either Matt’s Bar (my personal favorite), or the 5-8 Club, both in Minneapolis. This one is made of an English muffin with two American cheese-stuffed sausage patties. It’s only available until 11 am, though.
The North Shore Pasta – Walleye Mac & Cheese sounds pretty good, as well. The Fair’s website says it features an “Iron Range portion of fresh-smoked walleye with sweet corn kernels and roasted red peppers atop a bed of cavatappi noodles — all smothered in Giggles’ secret smoked Gouda sauce and toasted with Parmesan parsley bread crumbs.”
