There’s a NEW Amphitheater in Music City – Ascend [PHOTOS-VIDEOS]

Last Wednesday, July 29, I embarked on a whirlwind mini-vacation to take in a couple of concerts. (That should not surprise anybody!) At the end of the 12 hour drive, I arrived in Nashville to attend the inaugural concerts to open the brand-spankin' NEW outdoor venue in downtown Nashville along the Cumberland River. It's called 'The Ascend Amphitheater'... and it is pretty darn cool!

Not only is this new concert venue situated in the perfect location in a beautiful urban setting, it seems to have the music fan in mind with clean sight lines, plenty of room to move around in your aisle or on the grassy hillside, an up-close super-fan PIT, and most importantly, a kick-ass house sound system. All this just a couple blocks away from the country music-mecca that is lower Broadway, & Tootsies Orchid Lounge, Legends, and the legendary Ryman auditorium.  [WATCH VIDEO BELOW]

When I arrived at the venue early afternoon on Wednesday, maintenance & construction crews still roamed the grounds putting the finishing touches on, wrapping-up electrical, landscaping, and other last minute work. Television media was on hand doing LIVE UPDATES on the progress, and the Eric Church Road Crew was hard at work getting the stage just right for the Thursday evening Grand Opening performance.

After about 15 minutes of snapping a few photos I was asked (politely) to leave the area down front, and asked not to SHARE any photos via Social Media. I honored the request & promised not to leak any details. (for future opportunities I deemed that the best route to follow) I proceeded to the extreme rear on the amphitheater and recorded the [VIDEO BELOW]

Eric Church would come on the next two nights and deliver what I call, after seeing this guy perform for the 18th & 19th time, absolutely jaw-drop amazing acoustic-themed stripped-down performances. There were special guests, with special moments, with unforgettable versions of songs that maybe had not been played in past performances, and stripped-down versions of old Church 'standards' that gave both evenings of music a special feel for what should become a very special music venue in a very special city... Music City!
