Ahh, fall in Minnesota. Those sunny, warm days that turn into crisp, cool nights. The unmistakable scent of apple cider and pumpkin spice. And, mother nature's color display that eventually ends up...all over your lawn, waiting for you to rake them up!

Seeing as the weather was gorgeous over the weekend, my wife and I spent some time clearing out the flower beds and raking up as many leaves as we could. With a few trips to the brush pile in the woods, we had things looking pretty good.  That's our backyard right there. A few leaves, but it's mostly clear.

Our front yard looked much the same way, fairly neat and tidy, with everything raked and hauled away. The key word here, though, is "looked." It doesn't look that way anymore. Even though the maple tree in our front yard still had most of its leaves Sunday, our neighbors were out doing yard work and we figured we should try to take advantage of the weather and do the same. I knew, though, I'd have to do it all over again once the maple tree dropped all its leaves.

And, sure enough, only two days later, it's well on its way to getting rid of all its leaves. And our yard is once again covered.  Hand me that rake, will ya? Oh, well. I guess that's one of the benefits of living here in Minnesota, where we get to enjoy all four seasons.  And, at least we're not shoveling any white stuff-- yet!
