Thomas Rhett and the guys of Florida Georgia Line have become buddies after they toured together last year, and it turns out they spent a lot of time writing. Rhett says he hopes some of those tunes end up on each other’s records.

“Those guys are really good at writin’ songs and they have a really hard work ethic,” he explains via Big Machine. “Hopefully they get some cuts on my record and hopefully I get some cuts on their record.”

Rhett shares that the trio got together for impromptu writing sessions often when they were on the road.

"Some days we’ll wake up about 10 o’clock and I’ll get a text from Tyler sayin’, ‘Hey, dude let’s go write a song.’” he recalls. “As much as we can, as much as we have other songwriters on the road, we definitely write songs.”

Rhett is on tour with Jason Aldean right now, so hopefully fans will see some Rhett-Aldean collaborations in the future, as well. His most recent single “T-shirt” was recently released from his record Tangled Up, which is nominated for the ACM Album of the Year prize this year. He’s also nominated for New Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year for “Die a Happy Man,” which tied Taylor Swift’s record of six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard U.S. Country Airplay Charts. It was certified platinum by the RIAA late last year.

“When you put a song out there as personal as this, you hope it connects and resonates with people. But I could never have imagined it would connect like this,” Rhett says of the tune.
