Even though it's not Thursday, here's a throwback for you: It was on this date, June 15th, back in 1969, that a little show called Hee Haw aired its first episode.

While it originally aired on CBS, Hee Haw became most popular during it's nearly 20 year run in syndication, where it ran new episodes right up until 1992.  Even since then, though, you were still able to see those classic Hee Haw shows, though. They first aired on the now-defunct Nashville Network; and now, you can catch them on RFD-TV.

When I was a kid back in the late 70's, there were two TV stations we could pick up in my hometown that both carried Hee Haw on Saturday nights. (This, of course, was back before cable TV, when you only could watch about 3 stations.) For some reason, the Hee Haw feed on Channel 12 (out of Rhinelander, WI) was always a few seconds behind the Hee Haw feed on Channel 13 (out of Eau Claire, WI). So, as a result, you could watch the corny punchline on Channel 13 and then flip back to Channel 12 (where they were a few seconds behind), and say the punchline yourself BEFORE the Hee Haw cast did!  Ah, good times...
