It's been a sad couple of weeks for Minnesota sports, with the retirement of Torii Hunter and Jerry Kill. But it was the sudden passing of the Timberwolves' Flip Saunders a little over a week ago that really hit the Minnesota sports world hard. And last night, the team gave an emotional tribute to their late team president and coach.

Saunders passed away last Sunday at age 60, due to complications form Hodgkin's lymphoma. There had already been several tributes to Saunders, given by the team, the NBA, and his players. But as the Timberwolves kicked off their 2015 season at Target Center last night, it was a musical tribute to the team's longtime coach that took center court.

BringMeTheNews noted that "greats from all across the game of basketball spoke during Saunders’ tribute video, including Larry Bird, Pat Riley, Phil Jackson and his longtime friend and Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo."  Music was performed by Twin Cities musician, Tim Mahoney.
