The Vikings are making themselves at home in their brand new U.S. Bank Stadium, but the question now is, how should we refer to the new venue?

Of course, it's actual name is 'U.S. Bank Stadium,' and I'm guessing the good folks over at US Bank would want all fellow Minnesotans to call it that. But that name doesn't really roll of the tongue all that well, does it?

Which is why City Pages, the Minneapolis magazine, recently published an online poll, asking for what nickname fit the new Vikings' home. And some of them are pretty funny.

For instance, according to City Pages, one suggestion was "The stadium formerly known as the Metrodome." That's pretty good, as it gets in both a Prince reference and also a nod to the old stadium, which once stood where the new one stands now.

Another nickname was, "The Billion Dollar Pyramid," which, of course, points out just how much money both the team, as well as us taxpayers, spent to build the facility.

What was their winning entry, you ask? Turns out it was "Valhalla." Now, if you're like me, you don't know what that means. City Pages defined it this way: "Valhalla. The diaphanous after-life rewarded to brave, honorable Nordic sailors and warriors."

Ah. That kind of makes sense. I don't know if it'll take off, though. Would you say something like, "I've got tickets to see the Vikings take on the Bears this Sunday at Valhalla?" Hmmm. Maybe just calling it "U.S.Bank Stadium" isn't so bad after all.
