A town painted in red, white and blue with nearly 2,000 flags standing tall to honor the men and women who lost their lives fighting for our country.

This beautiful tribute known as The Veterans Walk of Flags started 15 years ago with about 100 flags at a local park, now nearly 2,000 flags are displayed throughout the city. Each flag holds a plaque with the name and rank of a member of the military. The Walk of Flags isn’t permanent though, with each flag taken down the same day it was put up. To read how the Walk of Flags got started, WCCO did an awesome story about it.

There's also a Memorial Day Program in Rochester starting at 9:15 a.m. this morning. Music from the Plummer Carillon will kick off the morning at the American Legion. A procession will then make its way to Soldiers Field.
