Ways To Get Through Our Minnesota Winter: Think Warm Thoughts
Whenever we're in the depths of an sub-zero Arctic blast like now, I always like to remember back to the when it was warm here in southeastern Minnesota. It seems hard to imagine now, when it's way below zero, but there WERE times it was actually WARM!
A walk through my phone's photo library proves it was once warm here in Minnesota. So warm, in fact, that Chance and I would head down to Cascade Lake here in Rochester for a little game of 'Fetch The Tennis Ball' (it's one of Chance's favorites-- he loves it!). I'm not sure exactly how warm it was, but I'm guessing it was at least near 80 or so-- roughly 80 degrees warmer than it is right now. Given our current sub-zero temperatures, it seems hard to believe we could walk around outside in shorts and a t-shirt, doesn't it?
Here's another warm weather picture, and although it wasn't taken here (that telltale Arizona landscape is a dead giveaway), it was taken when it was much warmer, back in June when my wife and I headed to the Grand Canyon. It was so much warmer, in fact, that park officials discouraged you from hiking the Canyon between the hours of 10 and 2-- the hottest part of the day. We went anyway, but did keep plenty of water with us.
And finally, here's one last warm weather picture-- taken last September just outside of Corolla, North Carolina, when we were vacationing on the Outer Banks. The weather in mid-September on the Outer Banks is pretty much perfect-- mid 80's during the day, and low 60's at night. Luckily, the week we were there, it was pretty sunny. It even motivated me to get up early and take a few photos of the sun as it was rising above the Atlantic Ocean. I only wish I was there now!
