Weekend Road Trip: Red Wing Brewery
What did you do this past weekend? My wife and I jumped in the car a took a quick road trip up Minnesota Hwy-58 to Red Wing, where we sampled a few local craft beers at the Red Wing Brewery.
Being a somewhat of a local history buff, it's always interesting to me to try the various craft breweries that are springing up here in Minnesota-- especially ones that are bringing back various historical beers using recipes created by breweries that were around many years ago.
That's the case at Red Wing Brewery. I especially enjoyed two of their historical beers: the Remmler’s Royal Brew and the Red Wing Premium. Both of those beers are brewed with the authentic recipe of beers that local Minnesotans enjoyed years ago; the Red Wing Premium uses a recipe from 1948, while the Remmer's Royal Brew is brewed using a recipe from 1896!
We then had a flight of some other craft brews at Kelly's Tap House And Grill, before heading back home along Highway-63. Of course, we had to stop for a drink and a couple of appetizers at Nosh Restaurant and Bar in Lake City before making our way back here to Rochester.
There are a lot of cool places to visit-- right here in our own backyard in Minnesota!
