While things seem to be looking up these days for the Twins, things have gone from bad to worse for the Milwaukee Brewers. Their record is now a woeful 2-12, and to make matters worse, their second baseman was just placed on the disabled list with a shower injury. Wait, what?

Yes, it seems the Brewers' Scooter Gennett needed 5 stitches in his finger after injuring it in a post-game shower at PNC Park in Pittsburgh a few days ago. Gennett posted the following on his Instagram page:

"Can’t believe it! Literally trying to grab some body wash in the shower (post game in Pittsburgh) and sliced my finger on the bottom of the metal thing that holds the shampoo and body wash! CraZ I know."

A shower injury. Now that's a new one. It's not the only weird injury that's plagued the Brewers, though. Just a few years ago, catcher Jonathan Lucroy was injured when a suitcase fell on his hand. Really. (Lucroy, by the way, is also on the DL right now, too-- thanks to a broken toe suffered when a foul ball landed right on his foot. That, though, seems to be a little more expected when you're a catcher.)

Weird injuries aren't all that uncommon in sports, I guess. I remember when Sammy Sosa was playing for the Chicago Cubs back about 10 years ago, and was placed on the DL list with a torn ligament in his back he sustained from... a sneeze. Really. A wild sneeze once put a guy on the DL list. Go figure.

Weird injuries don't just happen to athletes, however. Last year Chris Young had to miss the CMA Music Festival after he cut his finger slicing up some fruit.

I shouldn't scoff too much, though. I once needed about five stitches in my index finger, after I sliced it open while I was washing my car. Seriously. Washing the car! I was running the sponge along the inside of a hubcab, which was apparently much sharper than I thought, and before I knew it there was blood all over the place. At least the car was red, too.

Have you injured yourself in a strange way?
