With less than 36 hours left in 2014, it's always interesting to look back at the year that's drawing to a close. A lot has happened here in southeastern Minnesota over the last 365 days, from Mayo Clinic being ranked number-one in the nation, to new non-stop flights to Detroit out of Rochester International, to Michael's Restaurant announcing it's closing its doors. So just which stories were the most newsworthy this year?

I'd have to say our unrelenting cold and snowy winter last year would have to be up there, as would the DMC planners releasing their first draft of what downtown Rochester might look like in the next 20 years. Of course, in November, Olmsted County voters said it was time for a new sheriff in town, which was a big story too. And, let's not forget the approval of the Mayo Civic Center expansion, which is causing Rochesterfest to find a new home next summer at Soldier's Field.
