Being from Wisconsin, it's no surprise that I'm a big beer guy. But did you know that the kind of beer you like can say a lot about your personality?

Well, according to THIS study, it can! Now, I haven't met too many beers I didn't like, but I really prefer those hoppy, IPA's that are being brewed by a lot of great, local breweries right here in Minnesota.

But guess what that says about me? It's not good!  This study says people who prefer bitter tastes like dark chocolate, IPA beer, black coffee, etc, exhibit more anti-social behavior patterns than people who like sweet stuff.

Now, that's definitely the stuff I like. Here's where the science comes, and how they cam to that conclusion: The University of Innsbruck study consisted of 1,000, 30-somethings who rated different food and drink items from 1 (didn’t like it) to 6 (loved it). Then, they were given tests to evaluate their personalities.

“Bitter taste preferences are positively associated with malevolent personality traits, with the most robust relation to everyday sadism and psychopathy.”

Everyday sadism?!? Psychopathy?!? Really?!? Just because I like a more bitter, hoppy-tasting IPA?!?  I'm not sure I buy that. But if YOU want to find out which beer YOU like, make sure you head down to Rochester On Tap, set for December 10th at Mayo Civic Center!
