I'm a pretty sound sleeper, and I also have the ability to pretty much fall asleep wherever I might be. But even I haven't fallen asleep like the guy behind us this did the past weekend.

My wife and I were taking in a production of 'And The World Goes 'Round' at the Jungle Theatre in Minneapolis over the weekend, where my brother happened to be playing in the orchestra. The show was about two hours long, with an intermission roughly halfway through. But, even though that gave the audience a chance to get up and stretch our legs, apparently it didn't wake up the guy, whose name we now know is Jerry, because sometime roughly into the third song of the second act, he let out a really loud snort -- you know, the kind you make when you're just drifting off to sleep and immediately wake yourself up? That's what Jerry did -- and he did it pretty loudly.

That snort was immediately followed by his wife, who exclaimed, "Jeezus, Jerry!" She was apparently not amused that Jerry was falling asleep during the show. Or, maybe she didn't mind that he was falling asleep, but did mind that he was doing it a little too disruptively. Either way, it was pretty funny.

It reminds me, though, of a few times I've fallen asleep at events like that. Back when I did the morning show, and had to get up at 3 a.m., sometimes a late night out would catch up with me, too. There were a couple of times I'd gone to the movies and remember briefly falling asleep. I also recall nodding off once during a Tina Turner concert at the Target Center. Thankfully, though, I never snorted loudly like Jerry did Saturday!

Have you ever fallen asleep someplace strange like this?
