The 2nd annual Townsquare Media "Rochester on Tap" event is next Saturday, December 12th at the Mayo Civic Center Exhibition Hall. It got me thinking 'who invented beer?'

So I went on 'the Google' and looked it up. Beer, or more specifically, ale, is one of the oldest beverages humans have produced, dating back to at least the fifth millennium BC and recorded in the written history of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. As almost any cereal containing certain sugars can undergo spontaneous fermentation due to wild yeasts in the air, it is possible that beer-like beverages were independently developed throughout the world soon after a tribe or culture had domesticated cereal. Rochester on Tap, presented by MSTY - The Music Messenger, takes place on Saturday, December 12th at the Mayo Civic Center with two tasting sessions; one from 1PM – 4PM and another from 6PM – 9PM. There is also a special hour of VIP only tasting that begins at noon. The three hour premium event will showcase over 100 releases from some of America’s best craft breweries and imports as well. Attendees will receive an unlimited sampling of beers, in an atmosphere filled with live music from Thomas and the Shakes, a fantastic open-air photo booth from Celebrations Photo Lounge, delicious food available for purchase, and great vendors. See you there. -Alan
