The Minnesota Twins have been urging all fans to help get second baseman Brian Dozier voted into Major League Baseball's All-Star Game. And Wednesday, they got some help from another big name in sports: Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre.

Yes, the legendary former Packers and Vikings quarterback has thrown his support behind the Twins' Brian Dozier in baseball's All-Star Game 'Final Vote' promotion, where fans will vote for the final player selected on each league's roster. The All-Star Game is being played next week in Cincinnati and even though he's leading all American League second basemen in most major offensive categories, Dozier was left off the A.L. roster.

In the Final Vote promotion, Dozier is competing in the American League against Boston's Xander Bogaerts, Detroit's Yoenis Cespedes, Kansas City's Mike Moustakas and New York's Brett Gardner.

The Twins have been promoting a social media campaign to help get Dozier elected, as well. But what's the connection between Favre and Dozier? Turns out, they both went to the same college -- Southern Mississippi. Favre played there in the late 80's before joining the NFL, and Dozier played shortstop there from 2006-2009. The Final Vote promotion ends Friday at 3 p.m., and as of Wednesday, Dozier was in second place.

Here's the 'ol gunslinger's video urging you to vote early and often for Dozier:
