I thought I'd heard it all, but apparently I haven't. This is one of the strangest stories I've ever heard.- Alan

A woman who had always been a healthy weight became obese after receiving a fecal transplant from an overweight donor.

The woman had the poop transplant to treat ongoing diarrhea problems-- she weighed 136 pounds and had a BMI of 26 before the procedure.

Sixteen months after getting the transplant from her overweight daughter, the woman was clinically obese, weighing 170 pounds with a BMI of 33.

Her weight gain continued even though she was placed on a medically supervised liquid protein diet and exercise regimen.

Researchers are now trying to figure out if some of the good bacteria they transferred to the woman’s body affected her metabolism in some way. Yuck.
