You Don’t NEED To Warm Up Your Car
I can recall a class in college when my teacher talked about warming up her car. She said, "I will leave my car running until it's warm even if it takes a half hour, and the heater stays off until the thermostat says my car is warm." I remember thinking "no thanks, I'm a go, go, go girl."
This news is great for me. I had a remote start installed in my car because I'm a freeze baby, BUT EVERY time the thermostat is still on the "C" I worry about my car. This news means worry no more!
It's a myth that you need to let your car warm up (UNLESS it's an OLD car). By letting your "engine warm up" essentially all you're doing is wasting gas. According to a 2009 study most Americans thought they should idle for over 5 minutes before driving when temperatures were below 32 degrees! You ACTUALLY only need to let it run for 30 seconds before driving it. Read the whole story here.
