We've now had about a month to acclimate ourselves to the new season, and no, I'm not talking about fall either. I'm of course referring to "Pumpkin Spice" season, which seems to begin earlier and earlier every year. It feels like Starbucks and every other company have a standing bet on who can release their pumpkin spice product the quickest, and then the rest soon follow suit.

Well since Starbucks started this whole pumpkin spice craze (that's my opinion, I have no actual proof of this) and for argument's sake, I'll just say this is all their fault by introducing the Pumpkin Spice Latte - Or PSL as the Insta world says.

Look I get it, they smell delicious and taste like heaven. However, I've only had a handful of them, maybe six in my lifetime? Mostly because I have other vices that I can enjoy all year round, like Oreos!

Now this isn't an anti-PSL article, but just wait until you find out just how hard it is to burn just one of these babies off: One Grande Pumpkin Space Latte, made with 2% milk with whipped cream, has 380 calories, 14 grams of fat and 50 grams of sugar.

That's right, 50 grams of sugar in one drink. Yikes!

In a report done by Cheat Sheet, they details exactly how many minutes you will have to work on a variety of exercises to burn just one Pumpkin Spice Latte:

  • 30 minutes of jump rope
  • 76 flights of stairs
  • 35 minutes of rowing
  • 38 minutes of burpees
  • 36 minutes of running intervals
  • 33 minutes of swimming
  • 35 minutes of spinning

Can you imagine doing 76 flights of stairs to burn off just ONE drink? Holy smokes. I don't care how good it tastes, that's not worth more than one per season for me.

For those of you who might still be reading this and haven't given this whole blog the middle finger, again, I'm not trying to hate on the PSL. You do you. I'm just saying to maybe go easy on them moving forward, so once your New Year's Resolutions come 'round you're not wondering how the heck you got to where you are.
