When it comes to the business of government, I'm reminded of the old adage that states: "Laws are like sausages. It is better not to see them being made." And after last night's finish to the 2015 Minnesota legislative session, that appears to be true.

Yes, both the Minnesota House and Senate finished up this year's session last night -- coming right down to the wire. Whether you agree or disagree with the measures they passed is a topic for another day (BringMeTheNews has the rundown on what did and didn't get passed HERE), but I've always wondered why our state politicians leave things to the very last minute before rushing them through with a chaotic and hurried vote. (And, for that matter, why is it still mandated in the state constitution that the session end on a specific date in May? I'm guessing most state legislators don't have to rush home to their farms in their districts to work in the fields, which is perhaps the reason the deadline was originally mandated.)
