Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An updated COVID-19 vaccination report from the state indicates 14 percent of Olmsted County residents have now received at least one dose of the vaccine. That equates to almost 21,500 people. Almost 5300 Olmsted County residents have received both vaccination shots.

Only Mahnomen County in northwestern Minnesota has a vaccination rate of over 18 percent but the number of people vaccinated is far smaller at just over 1000. Statewide, over 284,000 Minnesotans have received at least one dose and over 67,500 have had both doses needed to reach maximum immunity.

The State of Minnesota is continuing to accept applications from people 65 years and older seeking to receive the shot through the pilot state community vaccination program. The deadline for applying this week is 5 AM Wednesday. About 8000 doses will be available and a random lottery system will decide who will receive an invitation to get the shot at one of the nine community vaccination sites around the state.

If you were placed on the waiting list last week your application is automatically included in this week's lottery and future lotteries for the vaccine. Those registering this week will also be automatically included in future drawings.
