It’s that time of the year again,as 10,000 anglers head to Minnesota’s Gull Lake for the largest ice fishing contest in the world.

The Brainerd Jaycees will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Ice Fishing Extravaganza today, with predicted warmer temperatures expected to bring a bumper crop of fisherman (and women) to the lake.

Anglers will compete for a share of $150,000-worth of cash and prizes.
Whoever catches the biggest fish will get the choice of taking home a Ford or GMC truck.

Extravaganza organizers said this year’s event will be a “big party,” including a
raffle with $40,000 worth of prizes, and a music concert planned at 7 p.m. at the
NP Center in Brainerd.

Let me just try to get my head around this. 20,000 holes in the ice? 10,000 anglers? One lake? What if... Ah, never mind. - Steve
