Pets are huge both here in Minnesota and across just about all of our 50 states. But how do Minnesota cities compare to other U.S. cities in the pet-friendliness?

That was the question this new survey from Wallethub set out to answer. To try to find out, they looked at various pet-related figures from the 100 largest cities in the country. For us here, that means Rochester, ranked as the nation's 244th largest city, wasn't included in the survey.

But, the Twin Cities were. And, while there are certainly some cost differences between living in Minneapolis or St. Paul and here in Rochester, I'm guessing that in some of these categories related to pets, things are roughly similar.

Specifically, the Wallethub survey looked at three pet-related areas:  1) Pet Budget, 2) Pet Health & Wellness and 3) Outdoor Pet-Friendliness.

So how did Minnesota rank? Well, it turns out we're in the middle when it comes to pet-friendliness. Minneapolis came in ranked at number 49, while St. Paul was slightly lower, coming in at number 60. St. Paul did, though, finish first in the lowest monthly dog-insurance premiums category with a rate of $34.84, which is 2.4 times lower than in New York, the city with the highest rate, at $83.50.

It's just a guess, but I'd think southeast Minnesota would be fall somewhere in the middle, as well, if they'd have looked at our data. So where's the Most Pet-Friendly city? That'd be Scottsdale, Arizona, while Honolulu, Hawaii was ranked the least Pet-Friendly.
