Additional Sex Abuse Charges Filed Against Mayo Clinic Physician
La Crosse, WI (KROC-AM News) - Additional charges have been filed against a Mayo Clinic Health System physician accused of child sex abuse.
40-year-old Joseph Poterucha was charged last week in La Crosse Wisconsin with one count of first-degree child sex assault involving a person under the age of 13. The criminal complaint alleged he had sexual contact with a girl at a residence in La Crosse and threatened to harm her if she reported it. An amended complaint filed today added two more counts of the same crime involving two additional children.
Poterucha was released on $25,000 bail last weekend after he was arraigned Friday on the original charge. Court documents now list a southwest Rochester address as his residence.
He was employed by the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. A statement issued by the organization following his arrest indicated he had been placed on paid leave while Mayo conducts its own investigation.
