It's got its own hashtag, the pound sign for us older folks, and it's really gaining traction. What is it? #LockTheClock. Even Marco Rubio, a Florida Senator, is on board with this, putting out the video below on Twitter. In a nutshell here, we move the clocks, then lock them, and stop with the Springing Ahead/Falling Behind nonsense.

According to the Wall Street Journal, this switching of times can cause some serious problems:

It is good news for those who enjoy more daylight in the evening. But experts say a growing body of evidence shows that the annual time shift is bad for our health, disrupting our circadian rhythms and sleep and leading to a higher immediate risk of heart attacks, strokes, atrial fibrillation and potentially car accidents.

Those are some pretty damaging side effects to switching the clocks forward/backward, depending on the time of year. Many States are pushing to stay on Daylight Saving Time permanently, and that includes Minnesota. 

There was a survey done in 2019, by the Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, that says a majority of Americans want to stop the tradition of moving the clocks. In that survey, 28% of people polled are happy with the status quo. Meanwhile, 31% would like to be on daylight-saving time year-round, while 40% would prefer sticking solely with standard time.

I am totally on board with the idea that we stop changing time, let's #LockTheClock. Can we leave it at Standard Time though? We may get more daylight in the evenings under Daylight Saving Time, but, I so hate changing the clocks ahead.
