The Best Steakhouse Chain In The US Has Just One Location In MN And WI
Minnesota and Wisconsin have their rivalries and differences-- especially during football season. But there's one way they're similar: The best steakhouse chain in the entire country only has one location in each state.
It's no surprise that folks here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes and America's Dairyland like a good steak, right? Heck, steak is a popular meal not just here in the upper Midwest but all across the country. According to a survey in this Fox News story, steak is America's favorite meal. And, steak is also what nearly 66 percent of Americans say they would have as their LAST meal, too.
And here in the U.S., we eat a LOT of steak: Americans consumed 27.6 billion pounds of beef in 2020, according to the US Department of Agriculture. The United States accounted for 21.2% of all the beef consumed worldwide, the story said.
So, with steak being such a popular food, you might think that the steakhouse chain that was just ranked as the best in America might have several locations in Wisconsin and Minnesota. But you'd be wrong. Because it only has ONE location here in the Gopher State and over in the Badger State as well.

That's the word according to this new survey from Tasting Table. To compile their results Tasting Table said they started by looking at U.S. steakhouse chains that had at least 30 locations. (That rules out two classic Minnesota steakhouses, Murray's Steakhouse and Manny's Steakhouse, both of which only have one location in Minnesota, in downtown Minneapolis. Or the classic Five O'Clock Steakhouse, with its only location on State Street in Milwaukee.)
Tasting Table then poured over various online searches, surveys, and reviews and compiled their results in a list of the top 13 steakhouse chains in the country. And the steakhouse chain coming in first on the Tasting Table list was... the Capital Grille.

Here's what their survey said about this steakhouse chain:
The Capital Grille is a knock-your-socks-off kind of place, from the moment you step foot in the door. With nearly 75 locations across the United States, The Capital Grille is one of the fancier steakhouses on our list. The menu features various steak cuts, of course, such as filet mignon, bone-in ribeye, and dry-aged New York strip.
And here in Minnesota, the only place you'll find the Capital Grille is at 801 Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. That's it. If you don't want to head there, you'll have to head to the next-closest Capital Grille location to Minnesota: At 310 West Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee, which is the only Capital Grille location found in Wisconsin.
If you don't want to head to either of those locations, your next-closest option would likely be the Capital Grille location on Broadway Street in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. But that is roughly a 6-and-a-half hour drive from the Twin Cities-- and an over 8-hour drive from Milwaukee!
Steak is one of those truly American foods that is a favorite here and is also very popular in other parts of the world. But not every food we love here in the U.S. is also a favorite elsewhere. Keep scrolling to check out some familiar foods that raise eyebrows overseas!
