COVID-19: Minnesota Hits 2,000 Deaths
St Paul (KROC AM News) - Minnesota’s COVID-19 death toll surpassed the 2,000 mark Friday.
The Minnesota Dept. of Health daily report on COVID activity that was released Saturday shows 10 new deaths were confirmed Friday. That pushed the cumulative total to 2,004. The state’s death toll hit 1,000 on May 30, just over two months after the first fatality was reported (March 21).
Minnesota’s daily death total has been under 20 since June 12th and most totals have been in the single digits.
There was a surge in the number of tests and positive cases reported on Friday.
More than 31,000 tests were reported and they confirmed 1,478 new positive cases. That put the state’s overall total at more than 95,600.
Olmsted County reported an unusually high daily total of 60 new infections.
